Italy exists deeply immersed in the centuries-long succession of humanity.  Cortona, the small Tuscan hill town where these photographs were made, has been continuously inhabited for well over 2500 years.  This procession of generations flowing one into the other has created a proliferation of small and large worlds that hang seemingly suspended in time.  It is in the late night stillness that this quiet presence is most palpable.
