These three related but separate series of photographs were shot in the Sunset District of San Francisco.  The Sunset District is a very residential area that is shrouded by fog during much of the year.  This seemingly nondescript area does, however, have particular aspects that are simultaneously peculiar and poetic.

These images are of the myriad power and telephone lines seen against winter skies.

interstices

These images are of views of the spaces between the buildings. Seen from the sidewalks, one is prevented from seeing into these private spaces by the bordering fences and walls.

markings

These images are of the sidewalks, many of which have been marked and painted to reflect a sense of individuality amidst characterless conformity.
